TekWar by William Shatner5/31/2023 ![]() For example, one chapter ended with the phrase ". There's even a good bit of unintentional humor here too. Meanwhile, it never once talks about the consequences of its world. ![]() Sometimes, it mixes it up a bit and has stuff happen, then characters explain out loud what you just read. Characters declare their intentions, then events happen. While obviously ghostwritten, you'd be forgiven for thinking this was penned by The Shat. Toss in double crosses and robot double, and stir. Plot: People use disposable computer chips as drugs, scientist creates device that can destroy all drug chips. It's that special kind of genre book that has all the flying cars and moving sidewalks of science fiction, but without any of the interesting thought that made that stuff interesting. It's obviously Ghost written, with The Shat sitting behind the scenes tossing out words that start in Plas- or Laz. Think noir detective story with shades of Regan-era drug war, and painted in faux-SciFi. Well, I wanted an easy break from all the heavy reading I usually do, and this actually fit the bill. It smells like must and cigarette smoke, and it likely has a garage sale sticker on the front that won't come off. The tracking might be a bit off too, and the audio's a bit fuzzy. ![]() Throughout this short read, I imagined I was watching a bad 80's sci-fi flick on VHS, complete with laughable special effects. ![]()

Own the wind by kristen ashley5/31/2023 ![]() ![]() So huge and powerful, I’d never make it to the top. I hadn’t even recovered and another wave crashed over me, bigger than the first. I knew what a piece of tail looked like riding on the back of a bike, and I knew what a biker’s woman looked like. I’d grown up in the world of bikers and I knew. Heartbreakingly, her cheek was pressed to his shoulder.Ī huge wave crashed over me, pulling me under, whipping me around. I jerked down and my lungs turned to ash, I struggled for breath as I heard a Harley roar, and I pressed against the cement at the side of the steps, my eyes glued to the forecourt so I could see them as they drove by, Shy on his bike, the woman pressed to his back.įortunately, Shy’s head was turned away from me. I lifted up and peeked over the stairs toward the Compound and my lungs burst into flame at what I saw. My lungs started burning and my body tossed itself to the side of the cement steps that led to the office, hiding me from the couple. Walking out of the Compound hand in hand with a tall, buxom brunette. I was heading toward the Compound to see if Shy was there and he wanted to share a drink when I saw him. The good part about not holding a grudge against Shy anymore was that I was at Ride more, on Chaos more, with the boys more, my family more, and, obviously, Shy more. ![]() “Cool,” I finished and then wandered out of the big garage bay at Ride. “No problems, Tab, be done in about half an hour,” Lenny called back. “Thanks, Lenny,” I called to the man under my car. ![]()

Finally finishing that book, getting published, winning a writing contest, or improving their writing skills are just some of the goals writers have. ![]() Well, I guess I can still aim for 2016.įor most of us, the start of a new year is a time to think about what we want to achieve in the twelve months ahead or what we want from life in general, may it be losing weight, travel to a destination we always wanted to see, or finding more time for family, relationships, or for hobbies such as reading.Īs you could see from our blog post about the New Year’s resolutions of our authors and from writers’ blogs all over the Internet, many writers set goals and make plans for the year ahead too. I still haven’t had time to think about a New Year’s resolution. ![]()
